The Ledger

Every day of your year goes to one of your two homes, with its proof attached to the date. This is how the record is kept, and what it leaves to you and your accountant.

A slim wooden console by a front door in late sun, a woven bowl holding a house key, a small stack of paper receipts and a boarding pass stub beside it.

Every day belongs to a state

The Residency Ledger gives each day of the year to one of your two homes and keeps a running count for each, measured against the threshold you set.

Florida

96 days

87 days below the threshold you set

Connecticut

141 days

42 days below the threshold you set

Example

Through Tuesday, August 25. Threshold you set: 183 days in each state.

Counted from your check-ins. Your accountant decides what it means.

ExampleThe year so far, one mark per day. Florida Connecticut Still ahead

Example year through August 25: Florida from January 5 to March 26, April 20 to 28, and August 19 to 24, 96 days. Connecticut on every other day, 141 days.

How days go in

Three ways, all of them yours. Days come only from what you enter, import or upload.

  • One-tap check-in

Open TwoRidge where you are and tap once. The day goes to that home, with the time you checked in.

  • Calendar import Plus

Bring in the trips already on your calendar. Each imported day is marked as imported in the log, so you always know how it went in.

  • Bulk entry

Enter a stretch of days at once, such as a winter spent in one place, then attach proof to any of them later.

What it never touches

  • No background location tracking. Your phone's whereabouts are never read.
  • No bank, brokerage or card linking. Your accounts stay yours.

Proof on the day

Attach what shows you were there: a receipt, a boarding pass, a toll statement. It is filed under the date it proves, so the day and its evidence never drift apart.

Take a photo or upload a file. Anything attached shows beside that day in the log and in the year-end record.

Plus The evidence vault is part of TwoRidge Plus.

Your threshold

You set the number of days for each home. The count runs against it every day, in plain figures.

With TwoRidge Plus, a text alert arrives as a count approaches the number you set. It goes only to you, the account holder, and only about your own count. Texts are opt-in, separate from your account, and you can stop them at any time.

The Residency Record Plus

At year end, export a dated, organized file of every day and its proof. Hand it to your accountant, or keep it in case a state ever asks.

It holds a summary by state, the day-by-day log, an index of every piece of proof, and how each day went in. It is part of TwoRidge Plus.

Earlier years stay put

Each year's days, proof and record stay available to you for as long as your account is open.

What the ledger does not do

It counts and it keeps the record. You and your tax professional decide what the record means.

  • It never decides your residency or domicile.
  • It never prepares or files a tax return.
  • It does not represent you in an audit.
  • It gives no legal or financial advice.
